Paid For By is a project of Popular Information. You send us photos of political mail. We tell you who paid for it and report on the most interesting pieces. By sending a submission, you accept these terms.
What you are telling us
- The mail is real. You or someone in your household received it, at the ZIP code you gave us.
- The photos are yours and unaltered. They are not AI-generated or AI-enhanced.
- You are not vouching for anything the mailer says. Checking that is our job.
What you let us do with your photos
You keep ownership of your photos. You give Popular Information a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, worldwide license to edit them (crop, cover, annotate) and publish them in any medium, and to pass that right to partners who run or republish our stories.
The mailer itself belongs to whoever made it. You give us no rights in it. Our right to publish it rests on news reporting.
What we never publish
Your name, email address, ZIP code, or street address. If we publish a mailer, we block out any personally identifying information on it first.
Your email address
If you leave the newsletter box checked, you will get Popular Information's newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell your email address or share it with campaigns, parties, data brokers, or advertisers. We may email you about a submission.
Other terms
- Paid For By is intended for people in the United States.
- We may not publish what you send, and we do not pay for submissions.
- Do not upload anything unlawful, abusive, or meant to deceive us. We can reject any submission and block anyone.
- You cannot withdraw a submission through the site. For questions about something you sent, email mail@popular.info.
- The "who paid for this" card comes from public FEC records and can be incomplete or out of date. Report errors to mail@popular.info.
- We may update these terms, and the date above will change. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
