Paid For By is run by Popular Information. This policy explains what we collect when you send us political mail, and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Your email address and ZIP code. The email address keeps track of your submissions and, if you opt in, gets you the newsletter. The ZIP code tells us which races a mailer belongs to.
- Your photos.
- A record of your consent: the date, the wording you saw, and whether the newsletter box was checked.
- Technical details: your IP address, your browser type, and the camera details in your photos (model, time, editing software), which help us spot fakes.
We discard the GPS location in your photos as soon as they arrive. We never ask for your name, street address, phone number, party, or a password.
How we use it
Your information is used only to identify the mail you send, confirm its accuracy, report on it, keep the site free of abuse, and, if you opt in, send you the newsletter.
A few service providers help us do that, such as the company that hosts the site and an AI service that reads the fine print on your photos. They may use your information only to do that work for us. We never sell your information or share it with campaigns, parties, political consultants, data brokers, or advertisers.
What we publish
We may show a mailer in our reporting, with any personally identifying information blocked out.
We never publish your name, email address, ZIP code, street address, or the fact that you sent us anything.

Paid For By is intended for people in the United States. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Visitors from outside the United States see the newsletter box unchecked.
